When skip hire isn’t an option because of bulk waste quantities or not having enough space onsite to accommodate one of our units, Metro Waste can still provide a versatile rubbish clearance solution. Grab hire is one of the most effective forms of waste management for large-scale waste removals. Our company owns and runs a grab lorry fleet manned by trained drivers and operators. We undertake domestic, commercial and industrial collections.
Grab hire is suitable for the largest garden, garage, loft, household, site and muck away clearance projects in and around the London area.
Locations covered by Metro Waste Include:
Battersea | Balham | Brixton | Clapham | Fulham | Putney | Stockwell | Tooting | Vauxhall | Wimbledon | London
With rubbish and waste collections taking as few as 20 minutes, grab hire is an efficient solution that requires no manpower and comes in at a price that will always compare well against hiring skips and roll-on/roll-off containers.

The grab lorry is at the heart of our grab hire operations. Here at Metro Waste, we operate a fleet of eight-wheeled trucks with approximate 16-tonne load capacities. Each lorry has a hydraulic grab arm fitted with a bucket attached that “grabs” waste material and loads it onto the bed. The arm has a reach of approximately 6m and this means our trained operators can collect waste in London even when the client has stored it behind fences or hoardings.
Even in tight areas, grab lorries have surprising manoeuvrability.
Hire skips and there will be a delay while you wait for units to arrive. Once you have skips onsite, you still need to consider loading them and, for our busier commercial clients, losing manpower to fill the units isn’t always an option.
And, if you underestimate waste volumes, you will need to wait for more skips to arrive and for the ones you have already filled to be collected.
With a grab hire service, your own operations can continue because Metro Waste takes care of everything. Order a waste collection and, thanks to our excellent knowledge of London, we will arrive at the agreed time and on the agreed date. While your own labour moves forward with the work that you pay them to do, our operators load your waste onto the grab lorry then take it to waste transfer stations across the capital for screening and processing.
Up to 90% of waste, and sometimes more, ends up recycled.
Some sites in Battersea, Balham, Brixton, Clapham, Fulham, Putney, Stockwell, Tooting, Vauxhall, Wimbledon and London, especially those of a smaller size, won’t always have enough space for us to drop off skips unless we position them at the roadside. To do this, you would need to apply for a permit from the borough’s local authority and in a busy location like London, this can take at least 5 working days to be processed which won’t always be convenient.
Factor in that work in Central London often takes place in narrow side streets and it might not be possible to leave a skip on the roadside anyway.
A grab hire service doesn’t require a permit. All you need to do is pick up the phone, call Metro Waste and book a convenient time to have bulk waste collected. We will take care of everything else and leave your time free to keep your own project running to schedule without exceeding budget.
Some grab hire service providers in London act as middlemen or agencies for smaller waste management companies. When you hire a grab lorry from Metro Waste, you deal directly with our company and always receive a fair price without the middlemen adding expensive commissions for making a few phone calls. We have an honest, upfront and transparent approach to business and have built our reputation on always putting the customer first.
